“Very Walkable” according to WalkScore. This home scored 75 out of 100. Sell the cars – Ride BART and get a couple bikes! o o This home is located in the desirable Claremont neighborhood, but is also on the border of Rockridge. It might not get any better than this. All of Rockridges’ shops and eateries are close at hand and yet you are close to the Claremont and Elmwood shopping districts, too. BART & Freeway access makes commuting a snap. Parks and recreation opportunities abound.

The Claremont Neighborhood of Berkeley is coveted for many reasons, including access to Elmwood, Rockridge and for the amazing array of Architectural styles of homes built here just after the turn- of-the-century. Many famous Architects plied their trade on these gracious homes. 14 Eucalyptus is a perfect example. It sits as a bookend to the neighbor and is a wonderful example of an almost “Storybook” styled Spanish/Mediterranean. You won’t be disappointed with the architecture. The Beautifully weathered front door and hand- hewn roof supports make for a gracious entry. Upon entering you are immediately drawn into the Formal Living Room with the subtly arched ceiling and picture windows, book niche’s, and a wood burning fireplace. The arched separation to the Formal Dining Room and Gleaming Hardwood Floors complete the formal rooms. The Redone Kitchen is simple and elegant. Softly colored Quartzite countertops and painted cabinets make for a warm, welcoming feeling. But this kitchen is all about work – Stainless Steel appliances, plenty of work and storage space, along with a place for a quiet simple meal overlooking the inviting backyard. Down the steps there is a reading den, perfect “Media” cave or even an office. This is the business end of the home with a Furnace (Forced Air), Water Heater closet and best of all ‘inside access’ to the roomy 2-car garage. Imagine getting caught in a cold, winter rain storm on a moonless night and arriving home to a safe, warm, dry garage. We still have to go upstairs and outside.
Upstairs you will find 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 very nice “Period” styled bathrooms. The front bedrooms both have oversized closets and are filled with light from well-placed windows (oh yeah almost all the windows have been replaced!) The hall bath has that great hexagonal floor tile, a big comfy tub and a cool pedestal sink. Up a few steps and you’re in the master bedroom. This room is quiet and peaceful. You look out into the trees and you’re in a private forest that could be miles from the next neighbor. The room is comfortably sized with its own “period” bathroom and closet. Okay now outside to the backyard.
The yard was just totally revamped by talented artisans. The cut stone paver patio is so soft and inviting, it almost doesn’t feel like stone. The new lawn makes a perfect spot for friends and family to romp and play. Imagine a nice warm summer day with a BBQ started and plenty of room for a great outdoor party. Shhh- There is a secret set of garden stairs that whisk you down the hillside to the Crossways Path. From there you can zip down to Chabot recreation yards and down to College Ave and BART. Pretty cool! Your home will become the new hang-out for all, and once you live in Claremont, nowhere else will ever feel like “Home” again.
